Will You Be My Valentine?

When my boys were little, we always gave out homemade valentines to their friends.

I had no idea how much I would miss those kind of things as my children got older.

I showed my kids these pictures and asked them which ones they wanted to make to give out this year…

Lydia picked out several that we plan to do this afternoon, but those 2 boys of mine…Yeah… They didn’t go for it. They want to go to Target and get pre-made “Fun Dip” and “Nerds” valentines.

Little do they know that I’m going to convince them to “help” their sister make hers. And, you know what, they’ll love it! *wink-wink*

Michele - Wish I would have seen some of these BEFORE I got Lilly’s Princess one’s from Walmart!!! Oh well always next year! Our valentine cupcakes are adorable, Kevin even got in on the decorating, it was family affair.

Decorating with Red

I love these rooms…it seems that no detail was spared!

And, even with no detail spared, they don’t seem too fussy.

These rooms look…”lived in.”

I especially like the mixture of new and old…that’s my favorite style! It is a style, right?

I love collecting photos that inspire me…even if there is just one tiny thing in the photo that draws me in.
They help me to make sure that I pay attention to the details in our home.

I’m on the lookout for a couple of old shutters for our master bedroom, one of those old benches to serve as a coffee table in my family room, and some of those fabulous decorating books to sit on it!

Kellie - LOVE red – if you’ve looked through my blog at all you’ll notice nearly every room has some red in it!!!! Also, glad to know you dressed your boys in smocked clothes til age 4 – my 3 1/2 year old boy will still be wearing jon-jons this summer – but I’ll move to 2 piece sets come fall when he turns 4, but we’ll still throw in some smocked for church and special occasions!!!! He actually prefers that to “big boy” clothes, much to my husbands chagrin. My 5 year old girl will be wearing it until I can’ find it any longer – I SO want to keep them “little” forever!!!!

JadeLD - I agree with collecting photos that inspire you, it’s qutie good fun and it’s interesting to see how I pick lots of similar styles. Most of my inspirational shots have similar features.

Mandi @ Finding Home - I love a touch of red in a room. Such pretty photos! I definatly agree about collecting photos that inspire you – even if it is just a small item. When I save the photos on my computer, I usually try to add the reason why I saved the file in the file name box. (I’m sure I could have worded that so much better but my brain is totally avoiding me right now.) :o)

Kristi - I love red as well! My favorite colors are golds, greens and reds. It has only taken me 37 yrs to figure that out! ;)
I have made MANY decorating faux paus through the years, but I have finally found the colors that make my heart sing! :)

Michele - Did I tell you that I pulled a bench like that out of the dumpster when they gutted my neighbors house?? Painted it black and it’s about to go into my hallway. If I find another I will send it your way :]

debra - I love red, too. We have a good bit of it in our family room and it makes it so comfy!

The Tulip Lady - You know…it must be a February thing…I got a hanker’n for some red too. Just ordered a quilt that will match the red on the propeller clock down stairs…yes, that sounds strange…I agree…husband is a pilot…we have this propeller…it’s a clock…oh never mind! I’m loving on the punch of red too!

For the Love of Music…

I needed this tonight. I needed my mind’s attention and my heart’s affection to be re-focused. And, If I were a gambling woman, I’d bet that there is someone else out there who might need it, too.

Here’s to celebrating the music that moves us in ways that change us from the inside-out.

Cha Cha - I just saw that you have Playing Sublimely on you side bar. Her post has been weighing heavy on me tonight, I am signing up. This song is so powerful in this moment. I once again have tears, and am in awe of my awesome God.

Thank You,
Cha Cha

Kristi - LOVE LOVE LOVE this song! We sing it at church and it’s always wonderful! Thanks for posting this! :)
