Ideas from Blogland…

Layla, from The Lettered Cottage, who we all love and adore, hosted the best parties last week.
Two of my favorite parties that she had were the best room re-do party and the best tutorial party.
I wonder if I could use the word “party” one more time?

Here are a few of my favorite room re-dos:

I hope you are having a great weekend!
We took down our Christmas decorations two days after Christmas
and gave our place an early Spring cleaning!
I don’t know what it is about taking Christmas down that spurs on a deep cleaning of the whole house.
Everyone’s closet got cleaned out.
The ceiling fans got cleaned.
The baseboards got cleaned.
The garage got cleaned out and organized again.
Every drawer in every room got cleaned out.
And, every stitch of clothing got laundered and put away.
It took us two days and we never got out of our pjs,  but boy did it feel good.
Now, the back of my van is loaded up with things to take to Goodwill.

Somehow, we still managed to have some fun!
We took a trip to our local fire station with a friend whose husband is a fireman.
{pics coming soon}
And, we saw The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which has been our favorite Narnia movie ever.

Have you done any projects?
Have you deep cleaned your space?
Seen any movies?

Rene - Tara, you were smart to get a jump start on organizing/cleaning. For the first time ever, we have waited until to day to take down our tree. This has been such a good Christmas season that I don’t want it to end.

Gina @ The Shabby Chic Cottage - Thanks for including my lamp shade tutorial!

I’m with you – I’ve been decluttering up a STORM. It’s soooo liberating :)

Happy New Year!

Michelle @Shellsshabbyshack - Great features and thanks so much for the links. There are several that I want to take a second look at.

Rnjoy your blog!

Farmgirl Paints - Oh that island in the first picture was GORGEOUS! Wowza. Let’s see we’ve been to Gulliver’s Travels. That was cute. I bought Wall Street for my honey. We watched it last night. Haven’t done the Christmas declutter yet. But it’s definitely time. Maybe today. I have the bug to clean, clean clean. You have to do that when it hits ya:)

Hailey - Thanks for the links! I’m still in the process of taking down Christmas decorations. But as I’m taking them down, all I can think of are new ways to redecorate. I’ve become obsessed with it! lol. I’m ready to make my home look like it came out of Southern Living! :) These are great ideas! Love the bedroom picture! So pretty and fresh! Thanks so much!

ps. we saw the Narnia movie right before Christmas, and yes, it was the best so far. LOVED the end where Aslan told them to learn him by a different name. :)

mary katharine - Love these … especially that antique island!!! Oh to dream:). And GIRL, you are not allowed to bring your camera when you drop off the sign in May:). I’m already thinking that maybe I should just pay the fee to ship. I’m gonna SO let you down …

Brandi - My Tara, Thanks so much for including my pillow with your links! You’ve really made my day! I really appreciate your comments and following my blog too.

We took our decorations down the day after Christmas, cleaned and reorganized too. At least you donation bags have made it to your van, mine are still sitting in the foyer!!!

I love the Narnia movies. I can’t wait to see the most recent one. My husband and I watched a movie last night and it was great. “Arn the Knight Templar”. It’s Swedish with subtitles, so if you don’t mind reading a bit I think you’d really enjoy it! If you have Netflix you can watch it instantly here’s the link!

Thanks again for the feature. I am so happy I found your blog. It’s really beautiful. Wishing you and your adorable family the best in 2011!

LuLu - I’ve spent all weekend undecking my home while i catch a movie with my kiddos… it’s going rather smoothly multitasking that way!!! School starts tomorrow and i can’t wait to hit the ground running with my cleaning supplies!!
here’s to new clean homes and fresh decorating!!!

Kim - Our Christmas decorations came down a few days ago. I still have some “winter” decor up. We also saw the last Narnia movie and loved it!!

Confessions of a Plate Addict - Oooh…I need to organize and finish taking down the decorations! It always looks so clean after! Thanks for linking my burlap runner to your post! Enjoy your Sunday!…hugs…Debbie

Sarah at myyellowhouse - Hi Tara,
Our tree is still up but I took off the ornaments. I love to lay on the couch by treelight so it stays up as long as I can stand sweeping up dead needles!
Reading this makes me feel incredibly lazy…we’ve just lounged around for the past week enjoying that my husband finally had some time off. Once he goes back to work, you can bet I will have a clean house again! :)
Glad you’re having such a wonderful beginning to the new year.

I love Jo’s kitchen in pic #1 Can you believe that island!

Take care,
Sarah xo

GLENDA CHILDERS - I share your passion for cleaning and organizing after Christmas. I love it. I have had to promise my husband and our daughters that I will not begin on Christmas night. :)

These Are The Days - Love the table runner. At first I thought it was a bed skirt (which I did and loved) but am excited to see it’s a runner…I’m totally doing it! Thanks. :)

Theresa - We took down our Christmas decorations yesterday and spent all day today and yesterday deep cleaning! We rearranged furniture and cleaned out closets! It feels so good! Great way to start a new year!!

Traci - Got everything cleaned and put away over here too. Got a burst of energy and put it to use! Love the kitchen in the first picture. Happy New Year!

Kurtzhals - I’m pumped about your blog. I felt stuck on the same 10 or so and I finally found another one worthy of my favorites list :)
I was searching for family rules sign art and when I read your rules and realized they were completely in line with mine, well… was meant to be I guess!
Lovely blog, love the ideas I’ve seen so far, you are a very talented girl.

Deborah - Good for you!!
Im starting to do this today on my day off…taking down Christmas tree and decorations, and beginning to go through each room and de-clutter.
My hubby and I saw the Voyage of the Dawn Treader too (we love the Narnia series) and loved it too!
I loved these photos and of course Laylas place is so dreamy!
Thanks for sharing and have a great day!!

Deborah xo

LLH Designs - Can I fly you to Houston for a fabulous cleaning and organizing vacation?!?! I need some motivation big time. Returning home today to all my Christmas decorations and a house that’s lovely but in need of a housekeeper. On an up note, I can’t wait to see Dawn Treader with my girls! My oldest loves that book best of all!

Blessings to you!
