Add a little Salty & Sweet to your weekend!

Pinterest is so good to us, isn’t she?
I’m totally assuming she’s a girl…she has to be.
Anyway, I use that sweet site for a lot of reasons, but food is high up on the list.
Interestingly, I also pin a boat load of fitness ideas.  
I’ve got problems.  Or, maybe I’m really smart. 
In a perfect world, we should eat what we want in moderation and exercise regularly.
I thought I’d take you into the weekend with three tried and true recipes.
If I’m going down, you’re going down with me.

So, just to clarify.  These recipes don’t follow the #operationzipyourpants commitment.
This picture of the Nutella & Sea Salt fudge does not do this fudge justice.
It is out of this world.  
The salt mixed with the sweet will change your world.
Okay.  I’m exaggerating, but it is gooooood.
Nutella & Sea Salt Fudge
1 tablespoon butter, for greasing pan
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 oz bittersweet chocolate chips
1 cup nutella, room temp.
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temp.
1/2 teaspoons sea salt

grease your pan with butter
line the bottom of 8X8 pan with parchment paper
mix your sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, chocolate chips, nutella and 3 tbsp butter in a glass bowl.
put the bowl over a double broiler and slowly melt your ingredients.

Pour them into the pan and sprinkle course sea salt over the top.
Put your pan in the fridge for 2 hours.
Take out, cut into cute squares and wow your family and friends.


You wanna know how many times I’ve made these smores bars in the past month?
At least 4 times.
I’ve taken them with a meal to a friend who had a new baby, I’ve made them for dinner guests, for our small group and for my boys and their friends.
They are so easy I can’t stand it, and you won’t be able to either.
Here’s the recipe that I adapted from Pinterest because I needed it to be simpler.
Smores Bars
Refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough 
About 12 flat marshmallows (Have you seen these?  They are perfect)
About 3-4 hershey chocolate bars
Graham crackers
Spray the bottom of a casserole dish (size is up to you..vary the amounts of your ingredients accordingly)
line the bottom of your dish with graham crackers 
put your break apart chocolate chip cookies on top of the graham crackers and flatten them with your palm
add the chocolate bars until they cover the cookie dough
Bake at 350* for 15 minutes, then add your flat marshmallows to the top to brown and melt for about 5 minutes.
Cut into bars when they’ve cooled and serve with a tall glass of ice-cold milk.

My friend Jackie brought this amazing dip to our house for a dinner with college students.
It was a total hit, and you’ll love it!!!
As in..you’re not gonna be able to stop with a handful.
Beer Cheese Dip
 2 packages cream cheese (8oz), softened
1/3 cup beer or nonalcoholic beer
1 envelop ranch salad dressing mix
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese 
In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, beer and dressing until smooth.  Stir in cheddar cheese.
Serve with pretzels.
